From the start of the route, go ahead and cross the bridge and head north through the patches of grass. Fight the PKMN Breeder there, who uses a Minccino L27 and a Deerling L27. Just past her is a Hidden Grottobefore crossing the bridge. Enter it if you'd like.

Go past the grotto, cross the bridge, and then fight the Parasol Lady with her lone CastformL28. North of her is a School Girl with a Deerling L27 and a Shelmet L27.
To the north of her, you'll see what appears to be two items. The one to the right is an Elixirwhile the one to the north is actually a Foongus L29!
Go ahead and cross the bridge and you'll run into Cheren. He'll lead you over to the Weather Institute and say some stuff about several different cities, but then, most importantly, he'll give you the extremely useful HM03 (Surf), which allows you to surf on the water, but it's also an amazing Water-type attack.
Oh Deerling!

It certainly doesn't hurt to have it and it can make a decent addition to your team.
Anyway, we'll check out the places to surf in a second, but right now go outside and head west to fight a Scientist who uses, of course, a Deerling L28. Just past him is a Researcher with a Shelmet L27 and a Karrablast L27. In the fenced in area to the north of the Researcher is a Moon Stone, which is an important item used to evolve either Munna or Skitty (or, later on, Clefairy). Now go south of the institute, into the grass, and pick up the hiddenTinyMushroom.
Cross the bridge and then fight the School Boy over there. He uses a Foongus L27 and a Karrablast L27. The "item" right to the right of him is another Foongus L29, while the one to the left of him is indeed an Ultra Ball. Fight the Parasol Lady nearby, who uses another Castform L28. South of her is another Foongus L29 disguised as an item.
Go ahead and cross the bridge north. As you try to, though, you'll hear a loud sound! Just like that, Cobalion jumps down and lands right next to you! Whoa! But it runs off shortly afterwards, leaving Plasma Sage Rood and the old man from the cave to come over and tell you that you just saw Cobalion. They then tell you the story of the three of them (Cobalion,Virizion, and Terrakion). Anyway, that's that — you don't get to catch it right now, but rest assured, you'll be able to later.
There's a hidden Protein in the grass just to the north, but you'll definitely want to head over to the east. There's a little house there. Talk to the woman inside and she'll heal up your Pokemon. Yay! But, better yet, the little girl inside will give you a Shiny Stone when you talk to her. That's awesome — it can be used to evolve either Minccino or Roselia, which is great, because you likely have both of those Pokemon.
Over to the east of the house is some thick grass, which houses higher level Pokemon, but there's also a PKMN Ranger over there who uses a Whirlipede L28 and a Foongus L28. He'll reward you with a Pecha Berry after you defeat him. That's about all that's over here unless you use Surf. I'll actually include that in a separate section, though, along with all of the other surfing hotspots.
Anyway, go back and heal in the house if you need to, then head north to reach theChargestone Cave! Of course, if you want to take a quick break and see all of the places you can use Surf, feel free to check out that section first.
Surf's Up!
Now that you can use Surf, there are several places you can go back to, as covered in theExploring with Surf section. However, if you don't feel like reading it, here's a quick summary of what you can find:
- In Aspertia City, you can get the useful TM53 (Energy Ball).
- On Route 19, you can find a Water Stone near the entrance.
- TM41 (Torment) can be found in the Castelia Sewers when the water is raised (not in Autumn).
- There's also a BlackGlasses available by surfing around in the sewers and finding a secret part of Castelia City.
- TM56 (Fling) can be found near the end of Route 6, as can the entrance to theMistralton Cave.
- Most importantly, in the Mistralton Cave, at the very end of it, you can find TM80 (Rock Slide), which will be very helpful in your upcoming Gym Battle.
As far as Pokemon to find go, here are the Pokemon you can find that aren't available elsewhere at this point:
- Basculin in Aspertia City, Route 19, Route 20, Floccesy Ranch, Lostlorn Forest, and the Relic Passage.
- Frillish and Alomomola in Virbank City.
- Buizel in the Lostlorn Forest.
Pokemon Reviews for those Pokemon are found on that page and won't be shown elsewhere in the walkthrough.
